Finance Minister Faleh Sari confirmed on Thursday that the ministry is continuing to implement financial and economic reform programs, during a meeting with the World Bank’s representative in Iraq, Emmanuel Salinas Muñoz.
According to a statement from the ministry reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the meeting reviewed mechanisms to enhance technical and institutional cooperation with the World Bank in support of development projects and infrastructure, as well as empowering the private sector and benefiting from international expertise in implementing reforms.
The minister stressed that the ministry remains committed to executing reform programs in line with government priorities, aiming to improve public resource management efficiency.
He added that the ministry is planning further reform steps in the coming period, focusing on developing the financial and banking environment, expanding the use of electronic systems in tax and customs sectors, increasing non-oil revenues, and simplifying procedures to improve institutional performance and stimulate economic activity.
For his part, Salinas Muñoz reaffirmed the World Bank’s continued support for Iraq’s reform programs, emphasizing their role in strengthening economic development and improving the efficiency of financial institutions.
