The Head of the Shiite Endowment Office, Haider al-Shammari, on Thursday issued a directive to cancel all official celebrations marking Eid al-Ghadir.
According to a brief statement from the Shiite Endowment Office reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Shammari also extended condolences to the Islamic world over the passing of senior religious authority Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh (may God sanctify his soul).
The decision comes in light of the death of the prominent Najaf-based authority , with official mourning expressions continuing across Iraqi state and religious institutions.
