The Integrity Commission announced on Sunday that the draft fund recovery law will soon be presented to Parliament, adding that it has succeeded in freezing large sums of money overseas.

Abbas Mutaab, Director General of the Recovery Department at the Integrity Commission and Deputy Chairman of the Iraqi Funds Recovery Fund, told INA that the Commission, especially its recovery Department, is at the forefront of digital transformation efforts,he added that the Commission has succeeded in freezing large sums of money abroad, preventing corruption offenders from accessing or disposing of the funds.

He added that "the Integrity Commission is coordinating with the Ministry of Justice to pursue civil cases aimed at recovering the seized funds, which amount to large sums."

He explained that "the Recovery Department, with the efforts of Integrity Commission Chairman Mohammed al-Lami and the Commission’s personnel, has succeeded in freezing and recovering funds," while pointing out that "there is no comprehensive legal framework governing the recovery process."

He added that "a draft asset recovery law will soon be presented to Parliament," noting that "the Recovery Department has achieved major successes this year and is expected to announce further achievements in the coming days."
