SJC supervised destruction of 240 kg of Narcotics

The Supreme Judicial Council(SJC) announced on Monday the destruction of approximately 240 kilograms of narcotics.

Judge Yasser Fentil, head of the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Destruction Committee, stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The committee destroyed approximately 240 kilograms of various substances that had been seized and stored at the Forensic Medicine Department of the Basra Health Directorate."

He added, “In coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad, 239 kilograms and 837 grams of narcotic substances were destroyed,” noting that “the operation also included the destruction of 1,388 narcotic pills and 202 bottles containing the narcotic substance codeine.”
