Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in the Syrian Arab Republic on Monday for an official visit.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in the Syrian Arab Republic on an official visit, at the invitation of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani."

The statement added that "during the visit, the Minister is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with senior Syrian officials to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Syrian Arab Republic, and to develop joint cooperation in various political, security, economic, and trade fields, in a manner that serves the common interests of the two brotherly countries."

It added that "the talks will address the latest regional and international developments, ways to enhance coordination and consultation between the two countries regarding common challenges, as well as discussing efforts to promote security and stability in the region, and developing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in a way that achieves mutual interests and supports regional stability."
