Speaker of the Parliament , Haibat al-Halbousi, extended on Thursday his condolences on the passing of senior religious authority, Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Halbousi said: “With acceptance and submission to Allah’s will and decree, we received the news of the passing of the great religious authority, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh, who devoted decades of his life to the fields of knowledge, jurisprudence, and teaching, and contributed to enriching the Islamic library and the seminary with a solid intellectual and scholarly legacy.”

He added: “As we share this loss with our people, we extend our sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the scholarly and religious community in Najaf, as well as to the family of the late cleric and his loved ones, recalling his scientific standing and prominent role in serving Islamic knowledge and promoting values of moderation and wisdom.”

He concluded: “We ask Almighty God to envelop the deceased in His vast mercy and satisfaction, and to grant patience and solace to all.”
