The Supreme Religious Authority, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, extended on Thursday condolences on the passing of senior cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh (may Allah have mercy on him), stressing that his loss is “immense” and the void he left is difficult to fill.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Sistani said: “With great sorrow and regret, I received the news of the passing of my dear brother, the esteemed religious authority Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh (may Allah’s mercy be upon him).”
He added that the late scholar was “one of the prominent figures of the religious seminary in Najaf over recent decades,” noting that he was distinguished by his sincere efforts in serving religious scholarship through teaching, writing, and other contributions.
Al-Sistani further stated: “The loss caused by his passing is immense, and the void he has left is vast and difficult to fill except by Allah’s grace and care.”
He concluded his message by offering condolences to the Imam of the Time (may Allah hasten his reappearance), the religious seminary, the family of the deceased, and the broader faithful community, praying that God grants the late cleric high ranks in paradise and provides patience and solace to his loved ones.
