FIFA has decided to rescind the red card shown to Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes after the 2026 World Cup final against Spain.

According to the BBC, the match report initially indicated that the Argentine player was sent off following the events after the final whistle, before the card was later removed from the official records.

FIFA sources confirmed that no disciplinary action has been taken against Paredes.

Paredes had a confrontation with Spanish players after the match. Footage showed him clashing with defender Eric Garcia, followed by another altercation with midfielder Xavi, before his Argentine teammates intervened to calm the situation.

It is worth noting that Spain won the 2026 World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0, as the original time ended in a goalless draw, before Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in the 106th minute of the second extra period, giving "La Roja" the second world title in its history.
