The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that it had summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires in Amman and delivered a letter of protest.
Ministry spokesperson Fouad al-Majali said in a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "The Ministry requested the chargé d'affaires to convey a clear message to his country demanding an immediate halt to the attacks on the Kingdom, emphasizing that Jordan's security and the safety of its citizens are a red line that cannot be crossed, and stressing the necessity of ceasing the unacceptable inflammatory statements."
He added, "The Ministry affirmed its condemnation and denunciation of the Iranian attacks, which constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter."
"Jordan condemns the attacks targeting the brotherly Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states and expresses its absolute solidarity with them in all measures they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents." Al-Majali said.
He reiterated that "Jordan will continue to take all available and necessary steps to protect the safety, security and sovereignty of its citizens."
