Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa discussed strengthening bilateral relations and joint coordination on Monday.
A statement from the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa at the People's Palace in Damascus, in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani."
"The meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to develop joint cooperation in various fields, contributing to strengthening mutual interests and serving the two brotherly peoples."
According to the statement, “The two sides discussed the latest regional and international developments and the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation between Iraq and Syria regarding shared challenges, in order to support security and stability in the region."
Both sides emphasized "the importance of continued communication and bilateral coordination, and joint efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries in a way that achieves common interests and enhances regional stability."
