Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi affirmed on Monday that Iran alone will undertake the demining of the Strait of Hormuz, and no other country will participate, according to the memorandum of understanding.
Gharibabadi stated in a post on the X platform: "No country will participate with us in demining the Strait of Hormuz, and we will not allow it in principle." He added, "The situation in the Strait of Hormuz is sensitive and complex, and we strongly advise France not to complicate it further with its provocations."
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghaei stated in press remarks followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "An Iranian delegation will visit Doha to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding, particularly regarding the issue of frozen funds."
He added, "We will not hold any negotiating meetings at any level with the American side in the coming days," noting that "the visit of American representatives to Qatar is unrelated to the Iranian delegation's visit."
He continued, "We are focused on implementing the provisions of the memorandum of understanding and are seriously striving to achieve our demands. We have not yet entered the stage of negotiating a final agreement," stressing that "the start of negotiations for the final agreement is contingent upon the start of the implementation of Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 and the continuation of their implementation."
