Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday Iraq's support for efforts to establish regional stability and spare the region and its people the repercussions of escalation.
The Prime Minister's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received the envoy of the Pakistani President, Senator Saleem Mandiwalla, who conveyed to the Prime Minister the greetings and congratulations of Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on the formation of the government, and presented him with an official invitation to visit Islamabad."
The statement added that "the meeting also discussed continuing to strengthen and enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields, particularly in the pharmaceutical and agricultural sectors, and regulating the entry of Pakistani visitors into Iraq, in a way that achieves the common interests of the two peoples and supports development and prosperity efforts."
The Prime Minister, according to the statement, affirmed Iraq's support for efforts to establish regional stability and spare the region and its people the repercussions of escalation. He also commended Pakistan's efforts in brokering the Memorandum of Understanding and the de-escalation agreement between Iran and the United States to end the war and establish security and peace.
For his part, the Pakistani President's envoy emphasized his government's keenness to develop relations with Iraq in various vital fields and sectors, praising the positive steps Iraq is taking to consolidate regional and international security and stability.
