Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haibat al-Halbousi, commended Pakistan's diplomatic efforts in supporting regional stability and promoting peaceful solutions on Monday.

The Speaker's Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): that "Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi received today, Monday, the envoy of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Senator Saleem Mandiwalla."

"During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed, along with ways to enhance parliamentary cooperation and the importance of coordinating positions in international forums regarding issues of common interest."

According to the statement, the Speaker praised "Pakistan's role in reaching the Memorandum of Understanding and the de-escalation agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, commending its diplomatic efforts in supporting regional stability and promoting peaceful solutions."

For his part, "the Pakistani President's envoy conveyed to the Speaker of Parliament the greetings of the Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, Yousaf Riza Gilani, and presented him with an official invitation to visit Islamabad, emphasizing his country's keenness to strengthen bilateral parliamentary relations."
