The joint committee of the Omani-Iranian committee held its first meeting in Muscat regarding the Strait of Hormuz, while affirming its commitment to international law regarding navigation and maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that "the joint Omani-Iranian committee held its first meeting on the Strait of Hormuz in Muscat," explaining that "the committee discussed views on the future management of the strait."

The Ministry added that "the Omani and Iranian sides discussed ways to enhance coordination on issues related to the Strait of Hormuz and affirmed their commitment to international law governing navigation and maritime services in the strait," emphasizing "support for the implementation of the provisions of the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States."

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi, in statements followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), affirmed that "the Sultanate continues its contacts and efforts to achieve peace, understanding, and harmony," stressing "Oman's keenness to ensure that navigation in the Strait of Hormuz remains safe and free for all."

He added that "any understandings regarding the strait must remain within the rules of international law," noting "the commitment to the Law of the Sea Convention and there is agreement with Iran that no arrangements should go beyond its scope."
