The General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances announced on Tuesday the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network and the seizure of one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine in Maysan Governorate.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Directorate said, "The Maysan Narcotics Affairs Directorate, through an intelligence operation, dismantled an international criminal network consisting of two foreign nationals specializing in smuggling and transporting crystal methamphetamine into Iraq. The operation resulted in their arrest in the act, with one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine seized from them."

"This operation represents a blow to drug trafficking networks that target the security of society and the safety of its citizens, while the Directorate is emphasizing that its intelligence agencies are continuing to pursue drug traffickers inside and outside the country, with strong support from the fair Iraqi judiciary," the statement added.
