UN Assistant Secretary-General Abdullah al-Dardari affirmed on Tuesday that the “Pulse of Baghdad” initiative is exceptional, having revitalized the heart of historic Baghdad, propelled it into the future, and created job opportunities for development and innovation.

A statement issued by the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that “the head of the Association of Iraqi Private Banks, Wadih al-Hanzal, a member of the “Pulse of Baghdad” initiative, received UN Assistant Secretary-General Abdullah al-Dardari during his visit to the Old City of Baghdad.”

“Al-Dardari toured the alleys and streets of the Old City, where he was briefed on the details of the completed projects, while he praised the exceptional efforts exerted to rehabilitate heritage and historical landmarks in a way that preserves their authentic identity and keeps pace with the demands of development,” the statement added.

"For his part, UN Assistant Secretary-General Abdullah al-Dardari stated that the Pulse of Baghdad initiative is exceptional and has succeeded in revitalizing the heart of historic Baghdad, propelling it into the future, and creating job opportunities for development and innovation," according to the statement.

"The Old City provides a sense of security and reassurance to all its visitors, which is why we at the United Nations support such significant projects," he added.

"This visit and UN support highlight the importance of preserving the cultural and historical heritage of the capital, Baghdad, in order to provide promising opportunities for young people," the statement continued.
