The flag-changing ceremony at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein and Abbas began a short while ago, marking the beginning of the month of Muharram for the year 1448 AH.
The ceremony took place this evening, Tuesday, in the courtyard of the Imam Hussein shrine, attended by religious figures and a large gathering of believers, amidst an atmosphere of sorrow, signaling the start of the season of mourning for the family of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura, the tenth of Muharram.
