Iranian president insists supreme leader did not bar negotiations

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian defended Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei against allegations that he did not sign off on the memorandum of understanding with the US.

Pezeshkian was quoted by Iran’s IRNA news agency as saying that if Khamanei “had ordered not to negotiate, we would have definitely obeyed”.

This comes after controversy was sparked when the supreme leader said he “held a different view” on the agreement.
