Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadai, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and head of the Supreme Committee for Million-Person Pilgrimages, chaired a security meeting to discuss preparations for marking the anniversary of the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
The Security Media Cell said in a statement, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that al-Muhammadai chaired the first coordination meeting at the command headquarters to review preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The meeting included commanders, directors and staff officers from the Ministries of Defence and Interior, the Popular Mobilisation Forces, as well as Baghdad and Karbala operations commands, the Najaf and Babylon police commands, and representatives of the Joint Operations Command’s staff and intelligence Services.
According to the statement, participants discussed preparations for the major religious event, which is expected to attract millions of pilgrims from inside and outside Iraq.
Al-Muhammadai issued a series of directives aimed at ensuring the success of the pilgrimage and securing the movement of crowds heading to holy shrines across several provinces, particularly Najaf and Karbala.
