Sheikh Al-Khazali, Communications Minister Discuss Telecom Sector Development

Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq movement Sheikh Qais al-Khazali met on Sunday with Communications Minister Mustafa Sanad to discuss the state of Iraq’s telecommunications sector and ways to develop it, according to a statement from Sheikh al-Khazali’s media office.

The statement said Sheikh Al-Khazali received Sanad in his office in Baghdad, where the two sides reviewed the current condition of the telecommunications sector and ways to advance it in line with modern technological developments and citizens’ needs.

The meeting also addressed the importance of the sector’s role in supporting production and economic development through upgrading digital infrastructure, encouraging investment in modern technologies, and creating an enabling environment for growth in this vital field.

Al-Khazali emphasized the need to work seriously to provide better telecommunications services to Iraqi citizens, stressing that tangible improvements must be felt in service delivery in order to strengthen public trust in state institutions and improve the quality of a sector that directly affects people’s daily lives.

He also called for supporting Iraqi youth and national companies operating in telecommunications and information technology, highlighting their potential for innovation and creativity, and stressing that empowering national expertise is a key pillar for building a sustainable and advanced telecom sector.

For his part, Minister Sandi outlined key plans and programs being implemented by the ministry to improve telecommunications and digital services, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to enhancing performance and upgrading services across all provinces.
