A fire broke out in southern Iran, specifically on a mountain overlooking the city of Shiraz, according to the official news agency (IRNA), without specifying its causes.
The agency reported that "a large fire broke out on the hills of Darak and the mountains near Bab al-Quran in Shiraz," adding that "thick smoke and flames could be seen from several neighborhoods in the city."
Mahmoud Farmani, the public relations director for the local fire and security services, explained that approximately one hundred firefighters were deployed to try to contain the blaze and prevent its spread, without specifying the area affected.
The fire comes two weeks after renewed clashes between Iran and the United States, which launched airstrikes on the Shiraz area on Monday night, according to the Mehr News Agency.
