Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi affirmed on Thursday that Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to Iran is significant and demonstrates the depth of relations between the two countries. He also indicated that the visit will yield positive results that benefit both nations.
In remarks reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) on the sidelines of the Iraqi Prime Minister's meeting with the Iranian President, Araghchi stated, "Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to Iran is extremely important because it comes amidst the current circumstances in the region." He added, "This demonstrates the depth and closeness of relations between the two countries."
Araghchi further noted that the visit was arranged following the solemn funeral procession for Ayatollah Khamenei held in Iraq, which further enhances its significance, pointing out that "we share common interests with Iraq."
He emphasized that the visit will yield positive results that benefit both countries.
Regarding the security agreement between the two countries, Araghchi stressed that "the agreement concluded between Iran and Iraq is a serious issue for us, and it has been implemented so far at an acceptable level," noting that "it is necessary to give it more attention."
