Iraqi Prime Minister AliAl-Zaidi and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian agreed on Thursday toaccelerate the implementation of bilateral agreements and expand collaborationacross the political, economic, trade, energy, transit, and regional sectors duringtalks in Tehran.
According to Iran’s ISNA newsagency, the two leaders stressed that “longstanding ties” between the twocountries remain central to their relationship and reviewed regionaldevelopments.
Government spokesperson HaiderAl-Aboudi said on Wednesday that energy and agriculture were among the maintopics on Al-Zaidi’s agenda. A government source previously told Shafaq Newsthat the discussions also include maintaining Iranian natural gas supplies forIraq’s power sector, investment projects, and efforts to ease tensions betweenTehran and Washington.
After Tehran, Al-Zaidi isscheduled to travel to Turkiye and Saudi Arabia as part of a broader regionaldiplomatic tour.
