US State Department: Pilot zones begin in southern Lebanon

The US State Department announced on Monday the commencement of pilot zone operations in Lebanon under the tripartite framework.

"Operations began today in the pilot zone in the villages of Froun, Srifa, and Zawtar al-Gharbiya, in accordance with the tripartite framework and under the auspices of the Lebanon Military Coordination Group," said the State Department in a statement reported by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The statement added that "this achievement is a direct result of last week's talks between Israel and Lebanon in Rome. The United States will continue to work closely with both parties to ensure the successful implementation of the framework."
