U.S. Central Command: Four U.S. Troops Killed or Missing, One Wounded in Jordan and Northern Iraq

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday that four U.S. service members were killed or remain missing, while another was wounded, following Iranian attacks in Jordan and northern Iraq.

In a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), CENTCOM said it had announced on Saturday the deaths of two U.S. service members and the disappearance of another in Jordan following an Iranian attack on July 17.

The command said that after an extensive search operation, U.S. forces earlier on Sunday recovered unidentified remains at the site, adding that forensic examination is ongoing to determine the individual's identity.

In a separate incident, CENTCOM said a U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq on July 18 during the controlled disposal of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone. Another service member sustained minor injuries and remains under medical care.

CENTCOM said it is withholding additional information, including the identities of the missing and deceased service members, out of respect for their families while the notification process is underway.
