President Nizar Amidi affirmed today, Thursday, that culture shapes individuals and strengthens the foundations of a democratic state. The Presidential Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "President Nizar Amidi received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad a delegation from the General Union of Writers and Authors in Iraq, along with a number of writers and authors."
During the meeting, the President addressed the overall political and security situation in Iraq and the region, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among all national forces in strengthening security and stability, prioritizing the country's best interests, and the necessity of distancing Iraq from regional and international conflicts in order to preserve its sovereignty, safeguard its national security, and provide a suitable environment for achieving development and prosperity."
The Media Office continued, "The meeting also discussed the current state of the cultural movement, ways to support writers and authors, and providing a suitable environment for creativity, which contributes to elevating the cultural landscape and consolidating Iraq's position regionally and internationally."
According to the statement, the President explained that "the expansion of freedom of expression witnessed in Iraq after 2003 has allowed creative individuals to freely express their visions and has contributed to enriching the cultural scene," stressing "the importance of preserving and consolidating these freedoms within the framework of the constitution and the law."
