US President Donald Trump affirmed on Tuesday that the partnership between the United States and Iraq is strong and robust and that Iraq is a great country. He praised the efforts and steps taken by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, and confirmed that the international coalition's withdrawal plans are proceeding smoothly.
In a joint press conference with the Prime Minister at the White House, Trump said, "It is a great honour to host the Prime Minister," adding that "al-Zaidi's influence will extend beyond Iraq, and he will become a leader in the Middle East."
"We have a strong partnership with Iraq, and Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi is doing an excellent job," Trump added.
"Iraq is a great country, and we enjoy a good relationship with al-Zaidi, who is a strong person," he asserted.
"Iraq possesses enormous oil reserves and resources, and we will conclude many deals and major oil agreements with Iraq," Trump continued.
"We will not need our troops in Iraq or any military presence," he stressed.
"The international coalition's withdrawal plans from Iraq are proceeding smoothly," Trump stated, emphasising, "We support al-Zaidi's steps regarding the state's monopoly on the use of force."
