The security advisor to the Prime Minister, Qasim al-Araji, affirmed on Saturday that the security of the Gulf region is a shared regional interest and a collective responsibility, noting that Iraq continues to support all efforts aimed at strengthening regional stability and developing secure trade and logistics routes.
Al-Araji said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Iraq affirms that the security of the Gulf region constitutes a common regional interest and a collective responsibility, based on respect for the sovereignty of states, commitment to the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs, and adopting dialogue and cooperation as a means to address common challenges.”
It added that “Iraq, based on its strategic location and regional role, continues to support everything that would enhance the stability of the region, secure supply chains, develop safe trade and logistics corridors, and deepen cooperation with neighboring and regional countries, in a way that achieves common interests, consolidates security and stability, and leads to sustainable development that meets the aspirations of the peoples of the region towards a future of peace and prosperity.”
