Iranian foreign ministry says Nato chief exposed Europe's 'willful complicity' in US attacks

Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has accused Europe of backing the US-Israeli war on Tehran.

"[Secretary General of Nato] Mark Rutte’s repeated admissions of Europe’s willful complicity in the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran only confirms, once again, that they were not impartial in this brutal unlawful aggression," Baghaei said in a post on X. 

He added that countries who provided their territories and infrastructure to enable the recent attacks cannot "evade responsibility for their contribution to an unprovoked aggression and its grave consequences".

Baghaei's statement comes in response to several remarks made by Rutte expressing that US strikes on Iran were "absolutely necessary" and "totally crucial".
