Iran warns of 'consequences' after US launches attacks in Hormuz Strait

Iranian state media reported several explosions in the Strait of Hormuz, just moments after the US military indicated that its forces have started launching new strikes against the country.

At least six explosions were heard on the Iranian island of Qeshm, seven more in the city of Sirik and a few others also reported in the major port city of Bandar Abbas, according to IRIB.

In response, Tehran's foreign ministry warned of retaliation against Washington, accusing it of repeatedly violating their deal to end the war in the region.

"Iran is issuing a serious warning about the consequences of America's breach of the treaty, and will take decisive measures to protect its interests and national security," the ministry said in a statement posted by IRIB.
