The Ministry of Justice announced on Monday the release of 181 juveniles during June 2026.

A statement from the ministry, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), indicated that "the number of juveniles released during June of this year, 2026, reached 181."

It added that “those released were distributed among (113) detained juveniles who were released, (30) were released after serving their sentences, and (31) were released on parole, due to their good behavior and passing the approved rehabilitation courses, based on the recommendation of the Social Research Department and the approval of the competent judicial authorities. (3) juveniles were also released under the general amnesty, in addition to a discriminatory decision for (4) juveniles."

It added that "the Department of Corrections and Juveniles continues to perform its duties professionally and responsibly, through close monitoring of inmates' files, and ensuring the implementation of legal and humanitarian procedures in the release mechanism."
