Brazil's national team coach, Italian Carlo Ancelotti, criticized those who questioned his coaching abilities during the 2026 World Cup. Brazil's performance was criticized by a number of social media users, who described it as lacking dynamism, warning that continuing at this level could cost the team its place in the tournament.
During the press conference before Brazil's Round of 16 match against Norway in New York City, Ancelotti responded to his doubters, saying: "In Italy, they say that all men want to be coaches, and all women want to be architects."
He added: "I don't know if I understand football or not, but no one has the right to judge me on that."
He continued: "It might not be enough to understand football, but it gives me a great deal of experience. There is only one person who has coached more matches than me, and that is Alex Ferguson, who has over 2,000 matches." The Italian coach confirmed that he welcomes advice from everyone, but added, "The only person who can truly give me advice in this area is Alex Ferguson."
Ancelotti concluded his remarks by saying, "I'm 100% sure I'm not a genius, but at the same time, I'm 100% sure I'm not an idiot."
