First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, on Tuesday commemorated the 106th anniversary of the Iraqi Revolt of 1920, affirming that the revolution will remain a beacon for Iraqis in confronting injustice and corruption.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Faihan said that “the 1920 Revolution represents a shining national milestone that embodied the highest meanings of unity and solidarity among the Iraqi people in defense of sovereignty and national dignity."
He added that “the 1920 Revolution will remain a beacon for future generations and proof that Iraqis have never submitted to injustice or tyranny, and that their free will has always been and will continue to be stronger than all attempts at subjugation."
He noted that "commemorating this great revolution motivates us today to continue the battle of building the state, establishing justice and the rule of law, and waging a comprehensive revolution against corruption and the corrupt, in fulfillment of the sacrifices of our fathers and grandfathers who brought about the dawn of a free Iraq."
