National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi affirmed to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Sunday that the Iraqi government, headed by Ali al-Zubaidi, will not permit any aggression against neighboring countries, emphasizing that the security and stability of the region are everyone's responsibility.
The National Security Advisor's media office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "National Security Advisor Qasim al-Aboudi received Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi."
The statement added that al-Aboudi welcomed the Iranian foreign minister, and they discussed developing bilateral cooperation at various levels in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples. They also discussed a number of files and issues of mutual interest, particularly security cooperation, border control, information exchange, and the activation of joint security agreements."
"Al-Aboudi affirmed that the relationship with neighboring Iran is a close one, embodied in the stances of the two peoples and neighboring countries, while he noted that the Al-Zaidi government will not allow any aggression against neighboring countries and clarified that "the security and stability of the region is everyone's responsibility," according to the statement.
For his part, Araghchi affirmed that the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys historical relations and has many ties with Iraq, while conveying the greetings of the Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council to Al-Aboudi. He also praised the role played by the Iraqi government in promoting the security and stability of the region.
