President Nizar Amedi met today, Sunday, with the Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali, and stressed the need to continue efforts to combat corruption.

The Presidential Media Office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "President Nizar Amedi met in Baghdad with the Secretary-General of the Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais al-Khazali."

"During the meeting, the most prominent developments on the national scene were reviewed, and the President emphasized the need to proceed with addressing current challenges with a spirit of responsibility and cooperation, in a manner that enhances the ability of state institutions to implement their programs and fulfill the aspirations of citizens and the requirements of the next phase."

According to the statement, the President stressed "the necessity of continuing efforts to combat and eliminate corruption by supporting oversight and judicial institutions and activating procedures that guarantee the protection of public funds and consolidate the principles of integrity and transparency."

The statement continued, "The meeting addressed developments on the regional and international scenes, and emphasized the importance of adopting dialogue and de-escalation to address crises, in a way that contributes to strengthening security and stability in the region and preserves Iraq's higher interests."
