First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Adnan Faihan al-Dulaimi affirmed on Thursday that the will of truth will always prevail over tyranny.

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Dulaimi said: “On the tenth of Muharram, the nation renews the memory of the greatest epic recorded in history—the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), who sacrificed himself to revive the faith, preserve human dignity, and reject compromise on truth or submission to injustice and tyranny. Karbala became an immortal stand where blood triumphed over the sword, values prevailed over force, and faith overcame oppression. Ashura remains a beacon guiding the free in every age and an eternal school of sacrifice and steadfastness on principles, bearing witness that great values are preserved only through sacrifice and that the will of truth will always prevail over tyranny.”

He added: “Commemorating this anniversary serves as a constant reminder of the timeless message written by Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) with his pure blood, affirming that reform is a responsibility, justice is an obligation, and human dignity is a principle that admits no compromise. From this perspective, Iraq today, as it draws inspiration from the light of Karbala, is in urgent need of consolidating the values of national unity, strengthening social peace, prioritizing the public interest, and unifying efforts to confront everything that threatens its security and stability, so that it may remain faithful to the principles for which the Master of Martyrs sacrificed himself and steadfast in upholding the path of truth and justice.”

He continued: “On this painful occasion, we extend our sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the Supreme Religious Authority (may its shadow endure), to our dear Iraqi people, to the Arab and Islamic nations, and to all the free people of the world. With hearts filled with sorrow and reverence, we remember the tragedy of the Master of Martyrs, his family, and his companions (peace be upon them). We pray to Almighty God to make this anniversary an occasion to renew our commitment to the path of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) and to protect Iraq and its people. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.”
