The Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) said on Thursday that one ISIS member had been arrested in Anbar province.

The PMF said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that, after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals from the competent judge and acting on precise and sensitive intelligence provided by the directorate's sources, units of the General Directorate of Security and Discipline's Investigations and Preventive Security Directorate carried out a special security operation that resulted in the arrest of an ISIS member in Anbar province, specifically in the Amiriyat al-Fallujah district.

The statement added that the operation was the result of intensive intelligence efforts and close field monitoring of the suspect's movements. Information regarding his whereabouts was collected and analyzed, enabling the force to successfully carry out the mission and arrest him in accordance with a well-planned security operation, without encountering any significant obstacles.

The statement said the operation forms part of the ongoing efforts by the General Directorate of Security and Discipline to pursue terrorist operatives and sleeper cells and to strengthen security and stability through precise intelligence and proactive security measures.

It added that the detainee has been formally placed in the custody of the Investigations and Preventive Security Directorate to complete the necessary legal and investigative procedures in accordance with the law.
