Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi praised Pakistan’s role and mediation efforts that led to de-escalation and the cessation of hostilities.

The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “al-Zaidi met with the Pakistani Ambassador to Iraq, Muhammad Zeeshan. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation in various fields, particularly economic and trade relations, as well as security and investment.”

“The meeting addressed developments in the region, with the Prime Minister commending Pakistan’s active role and mediation efforts that led to de-escalation, the cessation of hostilities, and the agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the statement added.

“Al-Zaidi affirmed that the agreement will contribute to sparing the region further chaos and instability, while noting Iraq’s position in supporting security and strengthening constructive partnerships,” according to the statement.
