Leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, on Thursday offered condolences over the passing of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Ishaq al-Fayyadh, describing his death as the loss of “a light from the lights of Najaf and its seminary.”

In a post on the platform (X), monitored by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Sadr said “We received with deep sorrow and grief the news of the passing of our great teacher, Grand Ayatollah Sheikh al-Fayyadh, may God envelop him in His vast mercy and pleasure. A light from the lights of Najaf and its seminary has gone out.”

He added “We ask God Almighty that the path of our great scholars, their methodology, and their struggle, as well as what their pens have written, remain a radiant light guiding us toward perfection and guidance. The ink of their pens and the sacrifices of their martyrs continue to fuel the tree of knowledge and righteous action until the reappearance of our master Imam al-Mahdi.”

Al-Sadr concluded by praying for patience and solace for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan in particular, and for the family of the late authority, asking Allah to grant them mercy and satisfaction.
