The First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Adnan Fihan al-Dulaimi, on Thursday extended condolences to the Supreme Religious Authority, religious seminaries, and the Iraqi people over the passing of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh (may God sanctify his soul).

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), al-Dulaimi said “With deep sorrow and profound grief, we received the news of the passing of Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Muhammad Ishaq al-Fayyadh, one of the senior religious authorities in Najaf, who dedicated his blessed life to serving Islam and Muslims, spreading the sciences of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), and educating generations of scholars and virtuous figures, leaving behind a significant intellectual and jurisprudential legacy that will remain a beacon for future generations.”

He added that the late cleric represented “a well-established school of knowledge, piety, and moderation,” contributing throughout his long career to strengthening values of wisdom, tolerance, and unity. He noted that al-Fayyadh was one of the prominent figures of the seminary whose scholarly and jurisprudential contributions enriched Islamic libraries, and who remained a reference for the nation on various religious and social issues, in addition to his role in preserving Iraq’s unity and social peace.

He concluded by offering his condolences to the Supreme Religious Authority, religious seminaries, the Iraqi people, and the followers and admirers of the late scholar in Iraq and the wider Islamic world, praying that God grant him mercy, admit him into paradise among the prophets, truthful, martyrs, and righteous, and grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.
