Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed on Wednesday with the Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq Joshua Harris ways to develop bilateral relations in light of the formation of the new government, while Harris affirmed Washington’s support for the policies of the government headed by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi.
The Media Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that FM Fuad Hussein received the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, Joshua Harris, who conveyed his congratulations on the minister’s renewed confidence and his appointment to lead the Foreign Ministry for a third term, wishing him success in his duties.
The U.S. official affirmed the United States’ support for the new government’s vision and the policies adopted by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and the current government, in a way that contributes to enhancing stability and development in Iraq.
The meeting also discussed ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries in light of the formation of the new government in Baghdad, as well as political and security developments in the region, and exchanged views on key issues of mutual interest.
Both sides also addressed Iraq’s economic situation and ways to address current challenges in support of development and economic reform efforts, and to enhance opportunities for joint cooperation between the two friendly countries.
