The Arab Parliament condemned on Tuesday the move by the so-called Somaliland region to open an alleged “embassy” in Jerusalem, stressing that this step represents a flagrant violation of international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions, which emphasize the need to preserve the historical and legal status of the occupied city.
In a statement, the Arab Parliament stressed its "complete rejection of any unilateral, illegitimate, and invalid measures aimed at entrenching an internationally unrecognized status and contravening the rules of international law and relevant UN resolutions." It clarified that "any steps to alter the historical and legal status of occupied Jerusalem are null and void and have no legal effect."
The Parliament affirmed its full support for "the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia and rejected any unilateral actions that infringe upon Somalia's sovereignty and unity." It called upon "the international community to assume its political, legal, and moral responsibilities regarding these violations, in order to preserve the unity and sovereignty of states and safeguard the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem."
