The head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Hammam Hammoudi, affirmed on Sunday that trust and adherence to the constitution are the true guarantees of stability.
According to a statement issued by Hammoudi’s media office and received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The head of the Islamic Supreme Council, Sheikh Hammam Hammoudi, received the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, and the two discussed the latest political developments and the national vision for the post-federal government formation phase, as well as the shared responsibilities for strengthening Iraq’s unity and overcoming the challenges facing the country.”
Sheikh Hammoudi stressed, according to the statement, that “respecting constitutional rights and duties is the true guarantee for the country’s stability,” noting the “importance of strengthening trust and resorting to the law and the constitution as the decisive framework for resolving any disputes.”
He also expressed “hope for parliamentary efforts to activate the suspended provisions related to the Federation Council, the Oil and Gas Law, and the Federal Supreme Court,” calling for “joint cooperation, investment in opportunities, building mutual understanding, reforming the economic path, and strengthening Iraq’s sovereignty.” He further noted that “Iraq possesses the wealth, intellect, and opportunities that qualify it to assume a leading role in the region.”
