The President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faiq Zaidan, affirmed on Saturday that nations are built only through the efforts of their loyal citizens, and that the value of knowledge lies in sincere service to the people.
“It is an honor for me to be among you today at this blessed celebration, and to stand before this group of graduates, who give me firm confidence that the future is being built here and by your hands,” Judge Zaidan said in a speech delivered during his attendance at the graduation ceremony for the first class of students from the American University, foolowed up by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.
He addressed the graduates, saying: “Today, you are not only carrying a degree, but also a message whose title is commitment, integrity, and responsibility,” explaining that “the knowledge you have acquired only reaches its full value when it translates into a positive impact on society and sincere service to the people.”
"Based on our experience in the judiciary, I assure you that the most difficult decisions are not those requiring only legal knowledge, but rather those demanding integrity, impartiality, and courage, “ he added, noting that “graduates will face situations in every position they hold in the future that will test their integrity and impartiality even more than their competence."
The President of the Supreme Judicial Council asserted, "We affirm that nations are built only through the efforts of their loyal citizens, and you are today part of this endeavor. Be worthy of this responsibility, contribute to establishing the values of justice, respect for the law, and serving society with a high sense of humanity."
"Do not forget the role of the mothers, fathers, and teachers who were behind this achievement, and honor them by performing beneficial work and acting responsibly in the future," Judge Zaidan called on the graduates.
He advised them "not to compromise on values, no matter the temptations, and to continue learning, because knowledge does not end with a degree, and responsibility does not end with graduation, but rather begins with it."
Zaidan concluded his speech by congratulating the graduates, expressing his gratitude to the American University, represented by its administration and teaching staff, for their great efforts in achieving this accomplishment.
