Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a congratulatory message on Friday from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, congratulating him on the formation of the new government.

The Prime Minister's Media Office said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi received a congratulatory message from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, congratulating him on the formation of the new government and expressing his wishes for the government's success in its duties after gaining the confidence of the Council of Representatives."

According to the statement, Sánchez expressed in his message his "desire to meet with al-Zaidi," emphasizing that "the excellent bilateral relations between Iraq and Spain will continue during al-Zaidi's government, in a way that achieves mutual benefit."

He also noted "the interest of Spanish companies in working in Iraq, in addition to expanding joint trade and diversified strategic cooperation."

In his message, the Spanish Prime Minister stressed that "Iraq's role is essential to achieving sustainable peace at this sensitive time for the region," noting "the strong security partnership between the two countries, or within the framework of the NATO mission in Iraq, which Spain will lead at the moment."
