US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed on Friday that efforts are underway to reach an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Rubio stated in a press conference: "We are working to reach an agreement with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and for it to abandon its nuclear program."
He added, "We must have a contingency plan in case Iran refuses to reopen the Strait of Hormuz," emphasizing that "the French and British initiative regarding Hormuz will only be effective if we reach a ceasefire."
He continued, "We do not need assistance regarding Iran, but if assistance is offered, we will accept it," noting, "We are coordinating with several countries, but Pakistan is the key player in the coordination regarding Iran."
