The Iraqi Ambassador to the United States Nazar Al-Khirullah met with Republican Senator Bill Cassidy.

Iraqi Embassy In Washington said on a post on X, followed by The Iraqi News Agency-INA that ," . Ambassador Nazar Al-Khirullah, met with Republican Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Chair of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), and a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, as well as several other committees.”

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Khirullah reviewed the political and economic developments in Iraq in light of the escalation taking place in the region, outlining the priorities of the new Iraqi government and its plans aimed at enhancing stability, advancing economic development, and expanding prospects for regional and international cooperation.

The Embassy added, “The two sides also discussed prospects for cooperation between Iraq and the United States and exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest, particularly strengthening partnership in the agricultural and commercial sectors, scientific cooperation, and the energy sector.

For his part, Senator Bill Cassidy expressed his interest in Iraq and his readiness to support efforts to further develop bilateral relations, affirming his desire to visit Iraq. In turn, Ambassador Nazar Al-Khirullah commended the Senator’s supportive positions toward strengthening Iraqi-American relations and welcomed his interest in visiting Iraq.
