Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a congratulatory message on Saturday from his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the occasion of his reappointment as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq in the new government. Lavrov indicated his country's keenness to strengthen cooperation with Iraq.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a congratulatory message from the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, on the occasion of his reappointment as Foreign Minister of the Republic of Iraq in the new government."
In his message, Lavrov expressed his "sincere congratulations and best wishes to Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein for success in his upcoming duties," emphasizing his aspiration to "continue joint work and strengthen bilateral coordination in the field of foreign policy, in a way that contributes to developing the traditional friendly relations between Iraq and the Russian Federation."
He pointed to "the importance of continued cooperation between the two countries in support of efforts to consolidate peace, stability and security in the Middle East region," wishing "Iraq and its people further progress and prosperity."
