Justice Minister Khalid Shwani on Friday affirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening the principles of integrity and transparency and adopting modern methods in judicial and correctional administration in a way that enhances citizens’ confidence in state institutions.
Shwani said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to members of the Council of Representatives for unanimously granting us confidence to assume the duties of the Ministry of Justice within the government headed by Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi.”
He added that “this confidence represents a major national responsibility and a trust that requires serious work to serve Iraq and its people,” stressing commitment to working with a spirit of national responsibility and high professionalism to develop judicial and correctional departments and improve their administrative, service, and legal performance.
He noted that “the ministry will work to strengthen the rule of law, preserve citizens’ rights, and reinforce the authority of the state and its institutions, in addition to implementing administrative reform programmes and adopting modern methods in judicial and correctional administration and services in line with citizens’ aspirations.”
Shwani stressed the ministry’s keenness to cooperate with the legislative and judicial authorities in a way that contributes to supporting the justice system, advancing reform efforts, and serving Iraq’s higher interests.
