The head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, announced today, Wednesday, the nomination of Basim Mohammed Khudair as the coalition's candidate for the Ministry of Oil in the new government.
In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the coalition said, "The head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, met with a group of members of parliament representing Basra Governorate, in the presence of its governor, Asaad al-Eidani."
The statement added, "The meeting reviewed the most prominent developments in the country and the progress of government formation. He informed them that the leadership of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition had chosen Basim Mohammed Khudair, a native of Basra Governorate, who possesses experience and competence, to head the Ministry of Oil in the new government."
Al-Sudani called on the Basra representatives to "support this nomination, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and coordination among all national political parties to proceed with forming the new government, work to strengthen stability, and complete the reform, reconstruction, and economic development process across all governorates of the country."
